What is an IATA E-Ticket (ET)?
E-Ticketing allows airlines to reduce costs, and most importantly facilitate passenger’s travels. The E-ticket allows greater flexibility for the passenger and the travel agent to make changes to the itinerary.
It eliminates the costs of issuing paper tickets and reduces processing charges.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) set the E-Ticket deadline for May 31, 2008. Since then, any airline willing to be distributed on the GDSs or to partner with other airlines (codeshare, interline) must use an IATA E-Ticket compliant management solution.
100 E-ticketing saves the industry approximately US$ 3 Billion annually
It is estimated that as an airline you will save US$ 9 approximately for each issued paper ticket when replaced by an E-ticket.
